We have prepared a short online placement test for this program. If you already know some Croatian, your score will help our teaching team find the best group for you. If you are a complete beginner, you do not need to take the test.

Is the course really free?

Yes. The course is fully funded by the City of Zagreb. If you qualify and receive a spot in a group, classes are 100% free for you.

Can I apply if I don't speak any Croatian?

Yes. If you have no previous knowledge and are starting from the beginning, you do not need to take a level test.

Do I need to know my schedule in advance?

In the application form, simply list all the time slots that work for you. This makes it easier for us to place you in a suitable group.

Does applying guarantee me a spot?

No. After you submit the form, we verify your eligibility and check available spots in the groups.

When do classes start?

The first groups start in November, and additional groups will open later. We will email you your exact start date once we review applications and form your group.

Can I attend classes online?

Classes are held in person in Zagreb. Joining a lesson online is only allowed in exceptional cases and with prior approval.

Already speak Croatian and need a statement of proficiency?

The City of Zagreb program also offers stand-alone Croatian language proficiency exams for eligible candidates.

If you already speak Croatian, you can register for the exam without attending classes. Once we verify your eligibility, we will share the exam details and options.

No classes required

This exam is organized separately for candidates who do not attend the course.

Language assessment

Your language skills are evaluated through a standardized examination process.

Results and proficiency statement

You will receive your results, and a statement of proficiency is issued based on exam standards and your score.
